Anyone can take your seat at any moment. When they do, you slide down one place. Nobody gets a refund for being outbid.

Pushed off the Knight seat, your reign joins the Royal Archive, recorded forever.
The price holds
A seat never gets cheaper while you hold it. Whoever wants it has to beat what you put down.
Raise a shield
A shield makes your seat 2 times harder to take, for a while.
